Our College
¶¹°ü³ÉÈ˰æ
Welcome
It is my honor to welcome you to the College of Performing and Visual Arts (PVA). Our college includes three schools: Art and Design, Music, and Theatre Arts and Dance. Each offers excellent programs, talented faculty and dedicated staff. I joined the faculty in 2000 and have stayed for 26 years because PVA is more than my workplace—it is my community. Over the years, my colleagues and students have become like a second family.
Whether your passion is music, theatre, dance or visual art, PVA is a supportive place where you can grow as an artist and prepare for a career in the arts. You will have many opportunities to perform, exhibit your work, take part in masterclasses, gain professional experience and participate in undergraduate or graduate research.
Choosing to study the arts takes courage. The arts are not only enjoyable—they matter. Artists inspire people, encourage new ideas, bring joy and help others through difficult times. As you develop your artistic skills, you will also build valuable life skills, including self-discipline, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity and attention to detail. These skills will help you succeed in many careers and throughout your life.
No one else has your unique experiences, perspective, talents and personality. You have something meaningful to share with the world. Our faculty will meet you where you are, help you grow and support you as you discover your own artistic voice. They are accomplished professionals who are passionate about mentoring the next generation of artists, teachers and scholars.
I look forward to welcoming you to our community of artist-scholars in the College of Performing and Visual Arts!
