Faculty Welfare Committee

Advocating for the pay, benefits, and working conditions of ¶¹°ü³ÉÈ˰æ faculty.

The Faculty Welfare Committee (FWC) reviews and recommends policy on the conditions of faculty employment, including tenure, academic freedom, promotions, faculty travel, sabbaticals, salaries, insurance benefits, academic privileges, and faculty evaluation. The FWC also examines existing employee benefit policies and procedures, including health insurance, life insurance, and tuition waivers, and conducts ongoing reviews of University policies affecting faculty welfare, recommending revisions as needed.

The FWC consists of a minimum of five senators appointed by the Senate chair and confirmed by the Senate, with the Chief Academic Officer (or their designee) serving as a non-voting, ex-officio member. The committee elects a chair and vice chair annually, and the chair reports to the Senate on the committee’s activities.
